Quiet Corner Pride – First festival of the year for me!

First of all… I have to say that this show was an absolute blast. It’s the 2nd annual pride fest in the town of Putnam, CT. I was there last year as an attendee and felt like I wanted to do something to support it. So began the idea of my pride series of paintings. These are landscape or sailboat paintings that use the color scheme of a pride flag.

Navigating Freedom – my most popular painting at the show. I sold the original along with all four prints that I brought with me to the show. This one is based on the Transgender Flag!

This year’s show was easily twice as big as last years and really was a fun, care free event. I had worried that people would be afraid to attend and was super glad to see not only how many attended, but how energized the crowd was! Sadly I didn’t get to take a single photo as I seemed to have a constant flow of people come by. I had my first two sales complete before I had even put away all of my bins!

I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect much for sales at this kind of event. I just wanted to be there to provide support to the community more than anything else. I still need to figure out what pride based charity I want to donate a portion of the sales to. I think it’s important to do what I can and I’m looking for something local that is helping out this community (I plan on doing this for the sale of any of my pride series paintings.) So if you know of a good cause please let me know!

Courageous Heights was another popular painting. This was one of my desktop / pride series paintings that are perfect to sit on your desk and come with a little easel to match.

The big surprise for me was how well I ended up doing. I’m just getting started in selling my artwork and this is my second year. Total sales for this show was just under what I sold all of last year! I want to encourage other vendors to think about attending similar shows so that we can double this again next year!

I also want to call out the Putnam Parks and Recreation & Commission on Aging and all of the town of Putnam for consistently providing a wide variety of events nearly every weekend!
