Christmas Lights are Up!

Had a great Thanksgiving with the family doing a modification of out traditional Campisi’s pizza. Since they couldn’t ship pizza from Dallas to Connecticut we found ourselves making new plans. The alternative? Everyone made their own pizza with home made sauce and toppings of their choice. It worked out great and will definitely be our new go to Thanksgiving tradition.

Then comes the day after Thanksgiving – time for Christmas lights! Being our first Christmas in Connecticut it took all new plans on how to decorate. I ended up buying something over 900 feet of Christmas lights to be able to light up the driveway – all 200+ feet of it. It was definitely a day long event as I created arches for getting around the property and poles to hold up the lights. I used thin PVC pipes and added red tape to give it a candy cane look. I liked the end results.

More than anything else I’m glad to have the driveway lit up for the delivery drivers. I try to keep all the driveway lights on most nights, but these days it’s getting dark by 4:30 and the majority of the driveway is pitch black.

The pitch on the roof was a lot less steep than our previous house, so I was able to get the lights up without any issues. I have to admit though that it was pretty cold as the wind picked up quite a bit for the day. The view was pretty spectacular from up on the roof!
